WELCOME TO THE GRAND TRAVERSE SKI CLUB
A volunteer run non profit club dedicated to offering quality instructional ski and ski racing programs for kids aged 4-14 at an economical price. Developing good skiers and ski racers with a focus on fun and sportsmanship.
Program Description
Congratulations to the race team Six rope towers and a nuce for their win at the Boyne Race
Not only did the team win, but Mike Wells and Julie Nuce were the fastest skiers and all the other team members placed in the top 11. Also, good job to coaches Nick, Lauren, Bill, William and Nate for showing the world that we have the fastest coaches around.
Junior Olympic News
Check out these pictures from the J3 junior olympics in Vail. Current and past GTSC members Cecily Olsen, Mallory Weaver, Ryan Ness, Tommy Lee Batcha, Cole McCardel and Clark Phelps completed the downhill, super G, giant slalom and slalom races in a week of competition with some of the best junior skiers in the country. Also present from the Manistee ski club were Nathalie Kenny, Christina Rennie, Andrea Paine and Shannon McGovern from the Leelanau ski club.
Mallory and Cecily on their downhill practice races figuring out that good hand position is critical to a successful landing.
Check out these pictures from the J4 junior olympics in Winter Park. Current and past GTSC members Shannon Weaver, Cassidy Klein and Kalvis Hornburg raced super G, giant slalom and slalom with some of the best racers around. Also from the Win Alpine Team were Jordan Sell, Nora Reed, Sadie Shepard and Mallory Slicker. Team member Mallory Slicker had a top 10 finish in each event. Great skiing and good job to all the Junior Olympic team members.
Attention all club members. The end of season member survey is now on line. The GTSC board encourages all members to take a few minutes to complete this survey. Your input and suggestions are critical for future planning and improvements to all our programs . We will also have an additional survey posted soon for the Middle School programs.
Looking for a club member to send weekly pictures and updates from our races
The web guy would like to post pictures and news from all of our races on our site and needs someone to send in the photos and some new/updates. We can feature different racers/age groups and even feature the volunteers. Email at kenweaver@charter.net if you are interested. Also, this is a good way to make sure your kid is featured on the site.
