WELCOME TO THE GRAND TRAVERSE SKI CLUB
East Junior High Racers, here is a note from your room mom:
It is going to be a great ski season this year! Just a few reminders before the Junior High season officially kicks off at Crystal Mountain on Monday…
We store equipment in the storage closet across from the main locker. It is not allowed on the bus in the morning. Check in at the main office when dropping off equipment and they will unlock the storage closet for you. Please make sure all equipment is labeled. (poles, helmets, skis, bags, everything!)
We have the TCAPS bus and By the Bay Shuttle park along the service road across from the track. After you pick up your equipment, you can exit by the gym hallway doors.
You will not have time to change into your ski clothes at school. You will have time to change at Hickory and have a snack before practice. You will also change at Crystal when you get there. Please remember to keep track of your stuff at Crystal(especially your valuables…cell phones, ipods,etc.) as lots of schools will be there as well.
Make sure you get your Hickory Hills ski pass before Tuesday. You can get them right at the ticket office at the hill.
We will have your Crystal passes and will distribute them.
Pack a healthy snack each day, especially on Mondays since you will not get back until after 7:00.
On Monday nights, the Crystal bus will meet parents in the Central High School parking lot after practice. It is usually there between 7:15 & 7:30.
If you have any questions throughout the ski season, please feel free to call either myself or Jody Madion. My cell number is 883-3273 and Jody’s cell number is 620-3139. We will be at school on Monday to make sure everything goes smoothly for the kids getting their equipment and getting to the ski bus. I know they are going to have so much fun this ski season!

Ski storage for WJH is in Room 103 of the 7th grade wing. Remember that no skis are allowed on the TCAPS buses in the morning. Parents must provide transportation of skis to WJH.
Monday, January 7th is the first day of practice at Crystal Mountain! The bus will come to pick up WJH students from the 7th grade wing off of Franke Rd. The bus should arrive between 3:00-3:15pm. This will allow all students to change into ski gear prior to the bus arrival. All students need to change in bathrooms & not in the hallways. While waiting for the bus, this is a good time to eat your snack. Students will want to bring a substantial after-school snack since they will not be stopping for dinner on the way home from Crystal. The bus will arrive back to WJH around 7pm on Monday evenings.
Tuesday, January 8th begins practice at Hickory! By The Bay Shuttle will be providing the transportation of the WJH students over to Hickory Hills. The bus will pick-up at the same location as on Mondays. Once again pick-up will be between 3:00-3:15pm. All students should get dressed into his/her ski gear at school prior to the bus coming. Practice is from 3:30pm-5:00pm.
